Byron Lewis is the current mayor of Snowflake, Arizona. He was originally encouraged to run by future State Representative David Marshall and then-incumbent State Representative Walt Blackman, local residents of Snowflake.[1] Lewis defeated Bob Flake, a close relative of former United States Senator Jeff Flake in the August, 2022 elections.[2][3]
In 2023, Lewis collaborated with Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema on a Rural Development Working Group alongside other rural officials.[4] This group exists to coordinate federal legislative efforts on wildfires, forest management, healthcare, substance abuse, and more with those of local rural municipalities in Arizona.[5]
