Clinston "C.J." Franklin (born March 17, 1994) is a American ice hockey forward. He currently plays for Minnesota State University, Mankato of the WCHA. Franklin was selected by the Winnipeg Jets in the fifth round (129th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Junior career[edit]
Franklin played for Forest Lake High School in Minnesota. He was selected by Sioux Falls Stampede in the fifth round (61st overall) of the 2012 USHL Entry Draft. In 2012–13, Franklin led Sioux Falls with 32 goals in his first USHL season, and was the Stampede’s second-leading scorer. He had 28 assists and was plus-30, with 60 penalty minutes in 63 regular season games. Franklin helped Sioux Falls finish first in the Western Conference, and reach the second round in the Clark Cup playoffs; defeating Lincoln in five games before falling to the Fargo Force.[1]
In January 2014, Franklin committed to playing college hockey at Minnesota State-Mankato for the 2014–15 season. Franklin was the leading scorer for the Stampede in his second season, and scored 22 goals with 29 assists, and was plus 19, with 43 penalty minutes in 53 games. He represented the USA in the 2013 World Junior A Challenge, and helped lead the United States to a Gold Medal.[2]
