C. John Stroumtsos (September 22, 1921 – May 25, 2005) was an American lawyer, politician and Judge . His last run for office was against Edward J. Patten[1] in New Jersey's 15th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives in 1966.[2]
Biography[edit]
Stroumtsos graduated from New Brunswick High School, then shortly after, served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. After the war he completed college and graduated from Rutgers University in 1946 and then Harvard Law School in 1949, earning a LL.B. degree.[3] Among other positions, he served as Assistant Prosecutor in Middlesex County. Later, from 1958–60, he served as a Federal Prosecutor/Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey under William P. Rogers in Trenton before entering private practice.[4] Later he was a New Jersey Superior Court judge from 1968 through 1986, when he retired but remained on recall until September 2001.[5]
