CIB ocr is an optical character recognition (OCR) engine developed by the German company CIB software GmbH. It is mainly used in other CIB products such as doXiview, ocr.team, the doXisafe APP and doXisafe Web to support text and barcode recognition.[1] CIB ocr is able to provide output formats such as text, hOCR, and PDF. The engine can be integrated in other applications and needs to be licensed for this purpose. Between July 2016 and October 2018 CIB software GmbH worked with different partners on creating an OCR engine based on artificial intelligence with the idea to improve the CIB ocr solution. The funded project is called: deepER (deep learning based optical character recognition).[2]

CIB products that feature the CIB ocr engine:

    • doXiview
    • doXisafe App
    • doXisafe Web

doXiview is a Java web application that shows the content of various document types such as PDF, RTF and TIFF in the web browser. The user is able to use a wide range of different editing possibilities, e.g. annotations, signature or a text editor just to mention a few. No additional software installation is needed to use the application, just a browser is required. The application can be used with or without registration.
CIB ocr in doXiview: Texts are easily extracted from uploaded documents or pictures and can be used immediately for further processing. The user can choose between 6 different languages for the CIB ocr engine. In doXiview more than 160 input formats are supported.[3]

The doXisafe App is a free app that can be described as a mobile scan device. It contains a set of tools for document creation, sharing and editing without requiring a registration. The user can for example scan a document, create or edit PDF or image files, merge PDF files, search for a term in stored files, upload and share files in the cloud. Each document is protected and can only be opened with the according password/code or by scanning the QR-code.
CIB ocr in doXisafe App: The OCR-Feature is integrated in the App and can be used on any scanned or imported document. Therefore the document can be saved as a searchable PDF.[4]

doXisafe Web is a free-service to store and share documents. No registration is required. With the upload a password/code/QR-Code is generated to protect the document and is therefore needed to open the document. Registered users can access the uploaded documents via doXisafe App and/or doXisafe Web. CIB ocr in doXisafe Web: The OCR-Feature is also integrated in the Web service and can be used on any uploaded document.
