C.J. Parson (born September 22, 1983) is an American actor, writer, and former police commander known for his appearances in television dramas such as Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again, Prodigal Son, and Power Book III: Raising Kanan.[1] Before beginning his acting career, Parson served as a decorated police officer in Jersey City, New Jersey, eventually becoming a detective commander and special assistant to the chief of police.[1][3]

Early Life and Education

Parson was born Corey-Jamaine Parson in Jersey City, New Jersey. He attended Snyder High School of Performing Arts where he studied music, television production, and performing arts.[1]

Law Enforcement Career

Parson joined the Jersey City Police Department in 2004, and was the South District.[1] During his tenure he served as a homicide detective, police academy instructor and police sergeant.[3] Parson also served as the city's ABC bureau commander,[6][3] and second special assistant to the Chief of Police.[1] Parson was the recipiant of several awards, including the highest given to cop, police officer of the Year and an honorable mention.[1][5]

In 2009, an investigation and arrest made by Parson of a suspected, and later convicted drug dealer inspired the court decision State of New Jersey vs. Nasir Shakur.[9] Also in 2009, Parson made headlines again when he observed a U.S. postal carrier being robbed in progress, while he was off-duty. Parson chased down the suspect and placed him under arrest.[5]

In 2012, Parson, along with several other officers rescued a mother and her children from a burning building during Hurricane Sandy.[4] In 2015, as the city's ABC bureau commander, Parson refused to approve a controversial application to open a liquor store, next to a daycare center, a move praised by city officials, community activists and residents.[6] Parson retired from the police force at the end of 2017.[1]

Acting Career

After retiring from law enforcement, Parson relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a full-time acting career.[1] His early roles included appearances on NBC’s The Blacklist and CBS’s FBI.[10] He also had co-star and guest roles on ABC’s The Rookie and FOX’s Prodigal Son and Power.[10] In 2025, Parson appeared in the twelfth season of NBC’s Chicago P.D.[10] as well as the Marvel Studios series Daredevil: Born Again.[12] He also made a promotional appearance on the Latin late-night talk show Noches Con Platanito for NBC’s Blindspot.[13]
