CSI Brough Memorial Church is located on Brough Road, near Panneer Selvam Park circle, in the heart of Erode, Tamil Nadu, India. The church has been serving the community, since its consecration in 1933.

History[edit]

The church was constructed by Rev. Antony Watson Brough, who came to Erode under London Missionary Society. The construction works were started in 1930 and completed in 1933. It was dedicated in 1933 by Rt. Rev. Azariah and named as Brough Memorial Church.[1]

Structure of the Church[edit]

The church is constructed with Indo-Saracenic architecture with the foundation depth same as the height above the ground. Stones, Lime mortar ground and egg were the primary construction materials used for building and plastering. The stones, windows used for the construction were brought from Karur. Granite stones were used for the construction of pillars and arches. There are 10 stone pillars measuring 2.5 meters circumference and 2.3 meters height. The building has five arches, in which hexagonal structure is carved in the middle out of a square pedestal. There is an inscription marked at the entrance stating Only God in both Tamil and Ya Kudah in Arabic language.[2][3]
