Cairo are a UK progressive rock band founded in 2016 by Rob Cottingham, who had previously founded Touchstone in 2002.
The band are signed to Mr Bowler Music Agency[1] and distribute via their own website and via a German distributor, Just for Kicks.[2]
Biography
The band was launched[3] on August 3rd, 2016, followed by a debut album and title track video single[4], released on October 3rd, 2016. The album is entitled 'Say'.
The band toured the UK in November 2016 to launch the new album, with Lisa Driscoll standing in for Rachel Hill, as Rachel Hill was suffering from health problems.
In August 2019, the band announced via PROG magazine that Lisa Driscoll was leaving the band and being replaced by Sarah Bayley.[5]
In January 2020 the band released a live album titled 'Alive in Holland' [6] that had been recorded at the Parkvilla Theater, Alphen Aan De Rijn in October 2019.

Critical acclaim
The band appeared in PROG magazine's 2016 Reader's Poll as #6 Tip for 2017.
In 2016 the band won the Classic Rock Society Award for Best Newcomer (award was presented by Martin Turner of Wishbone Ash). The band was also nominated for Best Lyricist (Rob Cottingham) and Best Album (Say).
