Canaan Union Academy was a whites-only school established in 1839 in Canaan, New Hampshire, after a mob of segregationists and anti-abolitionists destroyed the integrated Noyes Academy in 1835.[1] Canaan Union Academy operated until at least 1892, and its main building was later used as a library and eventually for the Canaan Historical Museum operated by the Canaan Historical Society.[2] It is part of the Canaan Street Historic District.[3]
The building features a two-story porch and an open belfry topped by a low pyramidal roof.[2]
