Capcom Super League Online (Hangul: 캡콤 슈퍼 리그 온라인; RR: Kaebkom Syupeo Ligeu Onlain),[1] is a cancelled free-to-play Korean tactical RPG game developed by Kakao Games and was supposed to be published by Capcom, developed for Android and iOS phones.[2][3] Development of the game was first reported publicly in 2018.
CLSO was featured in a GameRant article that featured 10 canceled Capcom games that mainstream players would not know about.[4]
Story
The game stars an unnamed person who was able to recruit various Capcom characters to fight against various villains.[5]
History
Kakao Games made the announcement in September 2018 in collaboration with Capcom with pre-registrations made on the same day.[6][7] KG announced that a closed beta test would be done in October 2018 for four days from October 7.[6][8] Kakao Games offered 2,000 gems that were given to recruited beta game testers in October 2018.[9]
On March 12, 2019, the game was reportedly cancelled.[8] Kakao Games mentioned that it was due to a "business decision" made with Capcom with no other reasons being made public.[8] At the same time, working URLs for Capcom Entertainment Korea were made defunct after its domain expired without being renewed in February 2019.[8]
Characters
A number of characters from various Capcom IPs were considered from the following properties with 20 games being represented when the game was being developed:[3]
- Ace Attorney[10]
- Battle Circuit[3]
- Bionic Commando[3]
- Black Tiger[3]
- Captain Commando[3]
- Darkstalkers[3]
- Devil May Cry[8]
- Final Fight[8]
- Knights of the Round[3]
- Legendary Wings[3]
- Magic Sword[3]
- Megaman[10]
- Monster Hunter[10]
- Quiz Nanairo Dreams[3]
- Resident Evil[10]
- Rival Schools[3]
- SonSon[3]

Development
Game modes consisted of Story, Arena, Rescue and Arcade Room.[11][3]
Players control the characters in a stage with a 3x3 grid to move up to seven characters in story mode via turn-based mode.[12][3] Characters are used according to character types, which consist of offense, defense and support.[3] A game can end if only support-type characters are the only survivors.[3] Character placement can be done with defense-type characters being placed at the front while support-type characters are positioned at the rear.[3] Each character has one attack skill and two passive skills, with the latter being used after the player obtains the needed materials to unlock said skill.[3]
AP is consumed when a character is used in a turn.[3]
For Arena, up to nine characters can be used.[3] Players need to manage a bar gauge that depletes over time when a match is left idle for a period of time in a fight in order to avoid idle gameplay.[3] Arena consists of Classic League where players play matches with other players.[3] Champions League is played with rankings with players fighting other players in order to get a high rank.[3] Players can watch other matches via replay if a match is finished.[3]
Arcade Room is where players can play minigames,[3] including barrel breaking (Street Fighter) and car wrecking (Final Fight).[11]
Characters level up by using material that can using experience-based items.[5] They can take equipment using equipment-based items.[5]
