Treasure Hunt is a action-strategy video game-sandbox developed by the game studio NielsDev. The game utilizes the Unity Engine. The game originally was inspired by the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark. When you play the game the user must join either of the two factions Axis or the Allies. The main goal of the game is to claim the most treasures available on the map while also fighting the enemy team to steal theirs.

Gameplay[edit]

The game is played in third-person perspective in coop multiplayer. It is an open world setting where 2 teams of players go out and try to capture the most treasures on the map. There are many different environments and places where treasure may be hidden such as temples, ruins and other archaeological dig sites. Players should work together in order to be able to become victorious.

In addition, there may also be non-playable characters in the form of hostile bandits that may attack the players from both teams! The game is still under development. Regular updates follow. Among other things, it is planned to implement a full singleplayer mode.

Development[edit]

NielsDev was founded in March of 2020[1]. Treasure Hunt started out as a school project where the studio had decided that they wanted to create their first multiplayer game.

Early conceptualizations of the game explored possible features such as a first-person perspective camera. In the end, the team had decided to go for a top-down perspective to stand out more in the general public as a top-down shooter. Other early ideas of the game included a possible open world where the game would turn into an MMO. But due to limitations and changes of game design, these were cancelled.

Early prototypes were released on Itch.IO[2] for general public testing and feedback. Overal the general public was very excited and the game was received well by the public giving the studio motivation to keep on developing their game.
