Carl Obeysekera was a former Sri Lankan cricketer who represented Ceylon prior to the country being renamed Sri Lanka, and prior to them receiving either Test of ODI status. Carl represented Ceylon as a schoolboy against Freddie Brown’s Englishmen on their way to Australia and opened the batting with Mahesh Rodrigo.[1][2]

Early life[edit]

Carl was educated at Nalanda College Colombo and played for Ananda-Nalanda 21st and 22nd Battle of the Maroons together with his twin brother Valentine Obeysekera.[3] former Civil Servant Lincoln Perera,[4] Stanley Jayasinghe former all Ceylon Cricketer and Leicestershire County Cricketer.[5][6][7]

Carl played for Nondescripts Cricket Club in 1953/54 Sara Trophy Champions.[8]

Carl is domiciled in United States.[9]
