Live and Career[edit]

Carsten Meyer Grohbrügge was born in Berlin-Charlottenburg in 1968 and, after finishing school, he began working as an assistant for commercial and portrait photography in Düsseldorf. Subsequently, he worked in Munich as a recording manager, production manager and assistant director in the advertising film industry.

Later, he was a Script-continuity and first assistant director at the Bavaria Film in Munich at the German soap opera Marienhof. During this time, Meyer-Grohbrügge completed a guest auditor course in the department Direction: Cinema and TV Film at the University of Television and Film Munich and worked as a script editor for the German film distributor NEF2.

In 1993, he became an assistant for French producer François Duplat, working in cities like Munich, Paris and Los Angeles, and, due to his employment, he was involved with the international films The Serpent's Kiss (1994), La Reine Margot (1994)[1], The Usual Suspects (1995), Hard Eight (1996), directed by Philippe Rousselot, Patrice Chéreau, Bryan Singer and Paul Thomas Anderson, respectively.

Furthermore, Meyer-Grohbrügge has lived in Los Angeles, working with Milton Katselas at the acting school Beverly Hills Playhouse, where he was educated in the field scene study.[2] His short films Ich bin der liebe Marco! (engl.: I am the lovely Marco!; 1993)[3] and Der Drahtzieher (engl.: Mastermind; 1996)[4] were created during that time.

Since 1999, Meyer-Grohbrügge has worked as a director, directing Episodes for the German TV Shows Watzmann Ermittelt, In aller Freundschaft, Die Rosenheim-Cops, Familie Dr. Kleist, Monaco 110 and Storm of Love.[5][6]
