Casualties of the Military intervention against ISIL

Starting in early 2014, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant militants started rapidly making territorial gains, capturing a third of Iraq and half of Syria. This prompted many states to begin to intervene against ISIL in Syria and Iraq.[1] Other smaller interventions were conducted against ISIL-affiliated groups in Nigeria and Libya. In retaliation, ISIL, or ISIL-inspired jihadists, conducted more than a dozen attacks in more than half a dozen countries, leaving hundreds of civilian casualties.
