Career[edit]

Beginnings[edit]

Grzegorz and Wojciech (or Greg & Voitek, as they are commonly known) first met in 2003 in their hometown of Szczecin, Poland, where they hosted a radio show and organised parties together.[7] Initially, they produced techno music under the name 3 Channels, releasing on the German Labels Trenton and Trapez[7] Nowadays they are well known for their main duo project Catz n Dogz

Mothership[edit]

Catz 'n Dogz' breakthrough came in 2006 when they remixed Claude VonStroke track 'Who's Afraid of Detroit'[7] This lead to the release of their first full-length LP 'Stars of Zoo' on VonStroke's label Mothership[8], a subsidiary of Dirtybird Records. 'Stars of Zoo' was released under the Catz 'n Dogz moniker and marked a move from their previous techno-focused releases to a more diverse, house-influenced sound[1]. This was followed in 2010 by 'Escape from Zoo', also released on Mothership.[9]

Pets Recordings[edit]

In 2010, Catz 'n Dogz established their own label, Pets Recordings,[3] and its subsidiary label STEP Recordings, with the intention of providing a platform for Polish artists.[7] As well as releasing on Pets, they continued to release on Dirtybird & Get Physical.

Catz 'n Dogz released their third studio album, 'Basic Colour Theory' on Pets Recordings in 2015. The lead single from the Album - 'Get It Right feat. Tanika' was featured as Annie Mac's Hottest Record in the World in October 2015.[10] The Album was accompanied by a remix album entitled 'Basic Colour Theory Remixed' and featured remixes from Jamie Jones, Eats Everything, Anja Schneider and Karizma, among others[11] This was followed by the release of the 'Killing with Kindness' EP, featuring the track 'I Can Do Anything' which was premiered by DJ Mag.[12] In 2015, Greg & Voitek returned to their minimal techno roots and reprised 3 Channels for 'Speicher 88', released on the seminal German label Kompakt.[13]

In January 2019, Catz 'n Dogz announced their fourth Studio Album 'Friendship', lead by the single 'New Love' which was featured as Annie Mac's Hottest Record in the World[14] and Mista Jam's #1 Dance Anthem.[15] 'Friendship' was released in March 2019 and shortly after, Catz 'n Dogz provided their second Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1,[16] having done so for the first time in 2013.[17]

DJ Highlights[edit]

Catz 'n Dogz DJ schedule has seen them play a US tour in 2012[2], an exclusive DJ Set for Mixmag Lab NYC in January 2017[18] at Holy Ship! in January 2018 and regularly for Cocoon at Amnesia. [19] They set up and have been running Wooded Festival in Poland since 2015.[20][21]
