Cavalry is a 2D animation application for motion design, vector graphics editing and data visualisation by Scene Group[1]. Cavalry 1.0 was released on the 11th of August 2020. Cavalry is available as a free version which has a watermark and resolution cap, and a subscription-based professional version which removes those limitations.
Cavalry has a focus on procedural, high-performance content creation organised via a layer stack. Cavalry ships with drawing tools and so can be used for general artworking as well as animation.
Cavalry comes as a suite of 3 applications made up of Cavalry, the main animation editing application, Cavalry CLI, a command line interface for rendering files without launching the main application, and Cavalry Player, a runtime application that can be used to play Cavalry scene files.
History
Cavalry was originally created in 2017 at Mainframe, a motion graphics and visual effects studio based in the UK. In 2019 it was spun off into a standalone company called Scene Group[2]. A public beta was launched in January 2020 with version 1.0 being released in August of that year.
