Chakkiliyar
Chakkiliyar is a caste found in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
Chakkiliyar are one of the Schedule Castes along with Paraiyar and Pallar. Chakkiliyan caste members primarily engage in leather-work, including cobbling, horses and other formats.
Tamil is the primary language spoken by Chakkiliyar people. In 2006, Chakkiliyar where added to SCA from the Scheduled Caste.

Chakkiliyan apparently came from Andhra Pradesh during the Nayakkar rule, although some researchers claim that Chakkiliyar people lived in Tamil Nadu before the arrival of the Nayakkars. Further no caste named Chakkiliyar is found in AP. They comprise 6.6% population of scheduled caste in Tamil Nadu.Other major Telugu Castes are less in population compared to chakkliyars.
The researches proving that ,In1202 Stone inscription are found in Tiruvannamalai temple saying that chakkiliyar people prepared leather slippers and they presented to god .In 1030 Stone inscription it mentioned that one palace named as "chakkiliyan thundil".Also the term chakkiliyar are found in stone inscription of 1151,1145,1251,1375 in Tiruvannamalai district and surrounding it around 30 kms in thiruvannamalai .
