Changa is a short video sharing app that offers a social networking platform to the people of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The app is currently available in multiple languages like English, Hindi, Gujarati. It was first introduced to the market when the Indian government imposed a ban on global apps such as 'TikTok'.[2] The app lets users make use of effects, AI filters, with music and stickers.
The Changa app has in-built AI features to edit and upload videos. The 15-second-long videos can be made to display on WhatsApp status.[3] The application has an integrated camera by which users can use double exposures with layers and adjustable transparency.
History
Changa was officially launched in the Google Play Store in 2020. It is founded by Shubham Agarwal, also a founder of a Gurugram-based tech firm BITCS.[4] The platform has an interface to create, edit and share videos on social media platforms. As per the Google Play Store, the application has received over 5+ million downloads.[5]
Changa is being used as a TikTok alternative in India as it's similar to the Chinese app.[6]
Controversies
On October 28, the Changa app went off the Google Play Store without any official notice.[7] Later, the issue was resolved and the application was restored on the Play Store.
