Changelly is a global instant cryptocurrency exchange that provides a range of products and services for crypto swaps, purchases, and sales. The exchange lists over 200 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ether, Ripple, etc. The service allows users to buy cryptocurrency with fiat money via a bank card, Apple Pay, bank transfers. The company is registered in Hong Kong and has a decentralized team located in Malta, the United Kingdom, Brazil. The exchange has never been hacked.

Changelly was founded in 2015 by crypto entrepreneur Konstantin Gladych and was headquartered in the Czech Republic. It started out as an instant exchange that allowed and continues to allow users to swap coins without significant knowledge of trading. The algorithm behind Changelly compares quotes on exchanges such as Binance and HitBTC among others and shows the most competitive rate to the user. The current Changelly CEO is blockchain entrepreneur Eric Benz.

In 2016 the exchange supported Ethereum’s hard fork and added Ethereum Classic (ETC) to the list of available assets ready to be swapped.[1]

In January 2017, Changelly partnered up with Indacoin and Simplex to enable users to buy crypto with a bank card operated by VISA and Mastercard.[2][3][4] At this time, a crypto startup ChronoBank aimed at connecting employers with freelancers on a peer-to-peer basis integrated Changelly’s exchange application within its software wallet.[5]

In February 2017, the instant exchange outperformed its main competitor, ShapeShift, in terms of the trading volume.[6]

In July 2017, Changelly’s API was integrated into the leading crypto wallet Jaxx to enable quick crypto exchange and purchase within the wallet’s application.[7]

In August 2017, Changelly assisted the European Cybercrime Center in the WannaCry ransomware attack investigation to provide all the necessary information.[8]

In January 2018, a former Wall Street investment banker and a founder of the crypto platform Oxygen, Alex Grebnev, partnered with Changelly in order to attract the platform’s users to the project.[9]

In May 2018, the Changelly API instant exchange solution was integrated into the BRD wallet adding new functionality to the wallet.[10] Later to the partners’ list were added MyEtherWallet, Exodus, Trezor[11], Ledger, and other established players in the crypto industry.[12][13]

In July 2018, Chanelly announced the listing of a DPos-based cryptocurrency Tron (TRX).[14]

In late December 2019, Changelly introduced fixed-rate exchanges aimed at protecting users from constant crypto fluctuations.[15]

In July 2020, Changelly launched a full-fledged cryptocurrency exchange Changelly PRO. The exchange provides instruments for spot and margin trading and is available for mobile devices.[16]
