Charles Okeibunor Odii is a Nigerian Author, Publicist, Entrepreneur, and a Small Business Advocate in Africa. He is the founder of SME 100 Africa, a small business advocacy company where he and his team helps small business owners plan, manage, grow and launch their businesses to success. Having been doing this for five years now, Charles have successfully trained many entrepreneurs in Nigeria with his work also earning a nomination spot at The Future Awards Africa 2018.[1][2]

Early life[edit]

Charles Odii hails from Delta North senatorial district in Delta State and belongs to a royal family. He was born into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Odii, in Ikeja Lagos State Nigeria where he was raised together with his six other siblings. Charles, started out selling video game CDs as a drive for entrepreneurship at the age of 15. At 17, he moved to selling bespoke fashion, from where he started his own clothing line called Charles Bryne clothing with $20. Charles Bryne is today, an international fashion company that sells fashion items to Africa and around the world.[3]

Educational background[edit]

Charles, who is very keen on education and considers it a necessity for success in any business venture is currently a PhD student at the School of Media and Communications, Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, Nigeria. Same school where he obtained his master's degree in Marketing Communications, few years after earning his bachelor's degree in Management and Information Systems from Covenant University, Ogun state, Nigeria.[4]

Career[edit]

Prior to founding SME100 Africa in 2014, Charles worked as a Business Development Consultant for Rocket Internet and in the Management Consultant team of Red Africa. After graduating from University Charles co-founded Bilateral Data & communications an integrated marketing agency that focuses on advertising, research, public relations and marketing with services to sectors such as investment, financial services, pharmaceutical, entertainment, manufacturing, aviation, distribution, fashion and technology consulting. He also served as a media consultant under the Internal Revenue Board of the Delta and Imo State Government in 2017.[4]

SME 100 Africa[edit]

Charles is the founder of SME100 Africa, a social enterprise focused on helping existing and future entrepreneurs launch, scale, expand and manage their businesses in Africa. By providing access to finance, market, mentors, skills and information. Through SME100Africa, Charles Odii has provided training to about 10,000 youth in Nigeria in entrepreneurial and vocational skills[5][6] and formalized numerous businesses in Nigeria working with International organisations like the US State Government and Google.

Personal life[edit]

Charles lives in Lagos, Nigeria which is the commercial centre of Nigeria and one of the top business cities in the World today. Charles enjoys speaking at events and workshops across the country.[7][8]
