Charlie Benanti
Charlie Blood Benanti was an American boxer from New Jersey. His career began at age sixteen to help support his family in the pre-depression years. In 1928, he won the New Jersey Lightweight crown from Cy Roberts. Among the fighters he defeated were Lou Ambers, Petey Mack, Nick Salvatore, and Joey Bliss. His career ended in 1931 with a 65-0 record. He was married to Nettie Garrone and had two children, Rosalie and Sal. After boxing, he opened a tavern in Garfield, New Jersey.[1]
