Chayce Beckham

Script error: No such module "AfC submission catcheck". Chayce Beckham (born c. 1997) is an American singer and songwriter and the winner of season 19 of the American Idol.

Biography[edit]

Originating from Apple Valley, California, he was born to Terry and Windie Beckham and has two sisters, Tiffani and Madison Beckham.[1] He started in a reggae-pink-funk band Sinking Sailors. The four-member band released two EPs, Take It Easy in 2017 and Long Sips and Bong Rips in 2018.[1] He also posted some of his own materials separately on Instagram. Foe three years, he also worked as a heavy machinery operator.[2]

He auditioned for the talent competition with the song "What Brings Life Also Kills" by Kolton Moore and the Clever Few. All three judges, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan voted yes. In the Hollywood round, Chayce was put in the "Country" category of the "Genre Challenge", alongside Christian McGuckin and James Perdue. He was later shown in a duet with Christina Daugherty called "Chasin Red" singing "July" by Noah Cyrus. He advanced but Christina did not. In the Showstopper Round in front of the judges, show that aired on March 28 and 29, 2021, he performed the song "You Should Probably Leave" from Chris Stapleton putting him to the Top 24 semi-finalist list.

In Top 24, he sang "Afterglow" by Ed Sheeran and "Drive" by Incubus in a duet with Brandon Boyd and received enough votes to be considered "safe". In Top 16, he sang "Waiting in Vain" from Bob Marley & The Wailers followed by "(Everything I Do) I Do it For You" from Bryan Adams in Top 12 and "Baby Mine" by Betty Noyes in Top 10 and "Magic" from Coldplay. In the Top 4 semi-finals he sang "Colder Weather" by Zac Brown Band, his own song "23", a reprise of "You Should Probably Leave" by Chris Stapleton and "Break My Heart Again" by FINNEAS in a duet with Casey Bishop. On the final, he sang "Blackbird" by The Beatles, "Fire Away" by Chris Stapleton and a rerise of "Afterglow" by Ed Sheeran. On the finale live show broadcast on 23 May 2021, he was declared the title winner with his own winning song "23", an original written by Beckham himself.[3]
