History
Originally based in Sunnyvale, California, Checkbook.io was founded in 2015 by PJ Gupta and is currently located in San Mateo. In March of 2016, Checkbook.io’s platform was released in public beta. They are funded by investors in Silicon Valley, including Tim Draper, AngelList founders, etc.
Checkbook.io solves the problem of using paper checks and taking on a large, inefficient way of making payments using paper checks. Checkbook.io reached 2 million digital check recipients by September 2018[4][5]
Products and services
Digital Payments
Provides a way for senders to push payments to the recipient’s bank account in real-time using ACH or real time payments.
Instant Pay
Checkbook’s digital payments and invoices enable users to send a variety of payments (multiple checks, recurring payments) with just the recipient's email[6]
PayFac/Market Place
Checkbook’s API and web interface gives users the opportunity to create their own PayFac/Marketplace without needing to write any code, facilitating 3rd party payments.
