Chen Zhi (businessman)
Script error: No such module "AfC submission catcheck". Neak Oknha Chen Zhi is a Cambodian businessman. He is the chairman of Prince Group, whose major investments in Cambodia demonstrate "unbreakable ties of Sino-Cambodian friendship".[1]
Biography[edit]
Chen Zhi arrived in Cambodia in 2010 under the Belt and Road Initiative. Originating from the western Chinese metropolis of Chongqing, he had previously developed businesses in Hong Kong.
He was naturalized as a Cambodian citizen and was approved as a "Neak Oknha" by His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni. In 2021, Chen Zhi was appointed as an advisor of Prime Minister Hun Sen.[1]
Since arriving in Cambodia in 2010, Chen has launched major real estate developments in Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville, as the Prince Plaza Center, Prince Modern Plaza, Prince IT Building and Prince City Center. They are mainly still in the construction phase but are going to be completed soon. Prince Group has many other companies under its entity too - Belt Road Capital Management, Prince Bank, Cambodia Airways, Prince Supermarket, Awesome Global Investment Group and Canopy Sands Development.
In 2020, Chen opened the Prince Horology Vocational Training Center in order to train Cambodians in the art of Swiss watchmaking.[2]
Philanthropy[edit]
Chen donated US$3 million to help Cambodia make purchases of 1 million COVID-19 vaccines, which was recognized as best Covid-19 Corporate Response at the eighth annual Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards in May 2021.[3]
