The first generation of the Chevrolet Suburban was released in 1934 and was used for military use only. The first generation of the Suburban was a station wagon version of the Chevrolet pickup from the 1930s. The model was specifically built for the National Guard. The vehicle could seat up to 8-9 occupants.

The vehicle's name originally didn't include the word Chevrolet and was only offered as the Carryall Suburban, however in 1935 it was sold as the Chevrolet Suburban. The seats of the vehicle could be easily removed. Apart from a passenger version, there was a panel truck version, and a canopy express one.[4]

The vehicle was also used as a limousine for some time until 1939 in Britain.
