CHINT is a Chinese electrical company mainly known for selling electrical components including batteries, circuit breakers, contactors, frequency converters and other low-voltage electrical equipment.[1][2][3][4] The company also manufactures photovoltaic components and invests in solar power production and transmission.[5][not in citation given][6][7][8][9][10]
History[edit]
Chint Electric was founded in 1984 in Liushi, Yueqing in the Zhejiang province of China.[11][12][13][14] In its early years, the company mainly produced low-voltage electrical products.[15]
In 2006, Chint started investing in photovoltaic energy.[16] The company started producing photovoltaic equipment and setting up photovoltaic power stations.[17][18][19][20][21][22][23] As of 2020, it owned 5.485 GW of domestic photovoltaic power plants.[24]
During 2006, Chint sued Schneider Electric in the Intermediate People's Court in Wenzhou, claiming that the French company's Chinese subsidiary had infringed on Chint's patents.[25] In 2007, the lower court ordered Schneider to pay 335 million yuan as compensation.[26] The dispute was settled after Schneider agreed to pay 157.5 million yuan ($23.05 million USD) in damages.[27][28]
In 2010, CHINT was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.[29][30]
