Chocolate Moose Media
Chocolate Moose Media is a Canadian[1] independent media company that produces animated public service announcement campaigns. It was founded in 1995 by Firdaus Kharas[1] to create behaviour-change communication information aimed at global health issues like HIV/AIDS, Ebola virus, malaria, Zika virus, maternal health and diabetes[2] as well as socio-economic issues like domestic violence and sexual violence, environmental issues and immigration. Chocolate Moose Media also produced animated series Nan & Lili for Baraem, the first Arabic language animated series for preschoolers.[3]
Its focus tends to target areas like Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe where health and social problems are most prevalent and has done projects in partnership with the United Nations,[4][5][6] UNICEF, Catholic Relief Services, United Methodist Communications and Harper Hill Global, among others. The work has been supported by people like Archbishop Desmond Tutu[7] and profiled in many of the world’s top publications.[8][9][10]
As of April 2018, it had an online portfolio of more than 3,600 videos in 245 language versions for unrestricted dissemination and use under a Creative Commons license.[11]
