The Christian Comic Arts Society (CCAS) is an organization of professional and enthusiast Christian cartoonists in the United States.[1][2] It publishes the annual Christian Comics Guide, and several other publications. The society was co-founded in 1984 by comic illustrator Don Ensign.[3][4]

CCAS members work in many aspects of the profession, including animation, comic strips, single-panel cartoons, comic books, editorial cartoons, graphic novels, web comics, and illustration for magazines and books. Membership is extended to established professional and amateur cartoonists, and comic enthusiasts, and is not a guild or labor union.

The society's stated purpose is "to document the work of and support Professionals, Hopefuls, and Enthusiasts who hold to the traditions of the Christian faith within the comic book and related industries", "sharing of the Christian message and our Christian faith, primarily within and through the comic book industry and art form", "mentoring, training, friendship and networking", and "collaboration on and creation of visual storytelling".[5]

San Diego Comic Con[edit]

At San Diego Comic Con,[6][7] CCAS has worked with both Big Idea Productions and Dreamworks to promote B&H Kids' VeggieTales comics; as well as the promotion of a new Bibleman animated cartoon series. They also worked with Zondervan to introduce a graphic novel titled Firstborn.[8]
