Christian girl group

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

A Christian girl group, as the name implies, is a musical group featuring a group consisting usually of young female singers, singing mostly Christian pop and R&B songs.

When such a group also plays instruments, it is distinctively known as a Christian girl band, though both terms are sometimes erroneously interchanged.[1][not in citation given] Nevertheless, these bands may sometimes opt out of playing instruments, as BarlowGirl did for its Christmas album, Home for Christmas. This allowed BarlowGirl to cater to older audiences and to release an a capella rendition of "Carol of the Bells / Sing We Now of Christmas".[2]

The genre has seen successful artists such as BarlowGirl, Point of Grace and ZOEgirl, each with sales of over 1 million albums.[3][non-primary source needed][4][5][not in citation given] Point of Grace is the most successful artist in the genre, with sales of over 8 million records and three Grammy Award nominations.[4]
