Chromium Homes is the third studio EP from the American rock band Black Wail.

The six-track EP was digitally released with Rhyme & Reason Records, on 15 December 2017. It was engineered and produced by John Seymour. Album cover art is by Thomas Carlson. Chromium Homes is compared to the music of Deep Purple, the Atomic Bitchwax and Steve Ray Vaughn.[1] Chromium Homes is described as a doom-inspired classic rock album with science fiction-themed lyrics, that focus on toxic waste, mutants, and New Jersey-specific problems.[2] It contains a cover of the Beatles song "Norwegian Wood," and draws comparison to the music of Megadeth, Monster Magnet, the Misfits, and Pink Floyd.[3]
Reception[edit]
The title-track is described by Metal Injection as "a slow burner [with] vocals that could melt the paint right off a house."[1] A review by The Aquarian Weekly says "to forge a record as focused as [a] torpedo bent on death and destruction [with] the mix of metal, grunge, stoner rock and haunting atmospherics[,] layers of grace and ghoulishness, and the mighty, menacing rhythms are among the highlights."[3] New Noise awards Chromium Homes four out of five stars, calling it a "fresh take on the throwback genre that transcends cliches and offers up some fresh and unique music, this is not a record to be missed for lovers of prog, doom, and classic vibes."[2] It was listed No. 2 in Jim Testa's Top 10 Hudson County records of 2018, who describes it as "heavy psychedelic sludge from the '70s [with] seven-minute songs about ancient kings, prog-rock keyboards, glam-rock melodies, and the most impressive Beatles cover of the year."[4]
