Cinema Tycoon
Cinema Tycoon (a.k.a. Cinema Tycoon Gold) is a management simulation video game developed by Free World Group and published by Tikgames in 2005 (and later published by Bigfish for online sales). The player operates a cinema, with the goal of making money to bring a chain of cinemas back to the glory they once had nationwide. The game is the first instalment in Free World Group's Cinema Tycoon series.
Plot[edit]
The plot of the game begins with you bringing a failing cinema chain back to the profitable glory it once had, managing the cinemas one by one until the chain is back on top, competitors left below it again instead of the competition crushing the chain for good.
Gameplay[edit]
The gameplay revolves around the day to day management of resources in the cinema, the snacks, the tickets, the systems and seating used in the cinema itself. You set pricing and buy the movies that will be screened, being careful to pick good movies that people will want to see. If successful, the cinema increases in value little by little until you reach your goal, and you hand off management to the staff, moving on to a more difficult cinema to improve, and this repeats.
Reception[edit]
Out of reviews that can be found, the Bigfish site has 7 reviews with a score of 3.7/5,[1] while Amazon's two reviews of Cinema Tycoon Gold total to 3.5/5.[2]
Publishing and Distribution[edit]
The publishing began with Tikgames, but eventually ended up with Bigfish, who now own the rights to the Cinema Tycoon series.
Distribution has now been spread across the Bigfish[3] and Amazon[4] sites.
Sequels[edit]
Cinema Tycoon 2: Movie Mania was made after the success of the original, but a third title is still in limbo.
