Circle Economy is an Amsterdam based social enterprise organised as a cooperative, aimed to accelerate the transition to a circle economy through on the ground, action focused, development of practical and scalable solutions.[1]
Organization[edit]
Starting with a focus on the cities, finance and textile programs and a substantive collaboration partnership, over the years, Circle Economy has broadened their expertise and construction and mobility were added as a program. With these programs, currently a wide range of sectors, business and governments are provided with a network to spearhead the movement towards circularity.[2]
Dutch Circular Hotspot[edit]
During the time of the Dutch presidency of the EU in 2016, Netherlands Circular Hotspot campaign was launched to position Netherlands as frontrunner on the circle economy, hereby also functioning as living lab. Alongside Prince Carlos, Duke of Parma, formerly married to Dutch royalty, Circle Economy worked to bring together a diverse group of decision makers and visionaries to inspire governments and international businesses to take action. The core of the campaign revolved around the creation of a shared vision which was launched at the national innovation exhibition on April 14th 2016 in Amsterdam.[3]
