Dennis Lepore (born December 26, 1994),[1] better known by his online alias Cloakzy, is an American live streamer, YouTuber, professional gamer and internet personality. He grew up with a passion for gaming and turned his passion into a career when he started live-streaming on Twitch. Cloakzy mostly plays Battle Royale games such as 'Fortnite,' which he streams semi-regularly.
Career[edit]
Cloakzy began his gaming career with H1Z1. He transitioned to PUBG upon its release. During this time he was a member of team ‘KnightsGG.’ In September, Epic Games released Fortnite: Battle Royale. He began playing Fortnite regularly and streaming it. On January 24, 2018, Cloakzy set World Record for most eliminations in a single match of Fortnite with 34 eliminations.[2] After this, Cloakzy began to rapidly gain followers and caught the attention of FaZe Clan. After joining FaZe Clan in March 2018, FaZe Banks asked Cloakzy to assemble a competitive team for FaZe that he would captain. This team consisted of Jaomock, Spacelyon, and 72hrs.[3]
Cloakzy's Fortnite tournament participation is one of his most recognizable events across the Fortnite community. In March, Tfue joined FaZe's Fortnite team and became Cloakzy's competitive partner. The first competitive matches they participated in were the weekly Friday Fortnite tournaments. From May to July, Cloakzy and Tfue won 5/7 Friday Fortnite tournaments and came in 2nd and 3rd for the others. This earned the duo $35,000 in total. Two days after their final Friday Fortnite victory, They won NerdOut's Anything Goes Tournament, earning $10,000.[4]
On July 20, 2018 Cloakzy placed second in Week 2 of the Fortnite Summer Skirmish Series, securing himself $48,000. He placed top 25 in five other Summer Skirmish tournaments during this series, winning a total of $85,775.[4]
The Fortnite Fall Skirmish Series began with a squads trial tournament on September 27, 2018. Cloakzy played with Kreo, Tfue, and ZexRow, winning $6,250. In Week 3 he placed 8th with Chrispy but won $30,000. Cloakzy and Tfue won the final tournament in Week 6 for $510,000.[4]
In 2019, Cloakzy's highest placement was 5th in the Fortnite Champion Series. He won $1,600. Cloakzy won a total of $10,700 during the 2019 competitive Fortnite season.[4]
Cloakzy earns most of his income through 'Twitch' subscriptions, advertisement revenues, and tournament wins. As of April 2020, he no longer participates in competitive Fortnite. Cloakzy now operates as a full-time streamer.
Personal life[edit]
Cloakzy is from New Jersey. He briefly lived in Austin, Texas with his girlfriend and fellow Twitch streamer Alexia Raye.
Cloakzy's Twitter, which features clips of his gameplay and random thoughts, has over 1.2 million followers. He also has a Discord channel available to his Twitch subscribers.
Controversies[edit]
On June 22, 2019, FaZe Clan Updates Twitter announced that the organization and Cloakzy “are in agreement to work towards his future departure” from FaZe. This comes after his duo partner Tfue filed a lawsuit against the organization as a means of escaping his allegedly unfair and illegal contract.[5] Cloakzy is currently a restricted agent of FaZe clan, preventing him from signing to other Esports organizations.
