Clove is an American healthcare footwear brand based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
History[edit]
Clove was founded in 2018 by Joe Ammon,[1] who was inspired by his wife Tamara’s experience in nursing.[2] He currently serves as CEO of the company.[3] The company and products have been covered by media outlets including Cosmopolitan,[4] Today,[5] Men's Health[6] and Parade.[7]
In 2021, the company had a $1.9 million round of venture capital fundraising.[8]
Products[edit]
Clove manufactures shoes and other accessories for the healthcare industry.[9] The company collaborated with medical professionals from the University of Pennsylvania on a clinical trial of their initial design.[10] The shoes are made from Clarino, a liquid-repellant,[11] stain-resistant, and abrasion-resistant fabric that is easy to clean. Clarino is an advanced fabric with the same microstructure as leather but without the use of animal products.[12] Clove shoes are produced in several different colors and the company also offers additional accessories for the healthcare industry.[13]
The brand was listed as one of the "Best Inventions of 2021" by Time[14] and among the "Top 12 Best Shoes for Nurses" by Nurse.org in 2022.[15]
Philanthropy[edit]
Since March 2020, the company has donated more than $300,000 in Clove products to front-line healthcare professionals throughout the United States.[16] Clove has donated shoes and compression socks to hospitals in all 50 states.[17]
The company also supports groups like the National Black Nurses Association[18] and projects such as Portraits of Black Voices and Your Stories, Your Space: AAPI Heritage Month.[19]
In November 2022, the women's Clove shoe was listed as one of the "Gifts that Give Back" on Oprah Daily.[20]
