College of Education Zing
College of Education Zing is a public tertiary institution located in Zing.[1], Taraba State, northeastern part of Nigeria. The college specializes in teacher education and awards the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE). It operates under the regulation of National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE).[2]
History

the institution aims to provide access to teachers education in the field of arts, sciences, as well as vocational and technical education.[3] Its academic activities commenced on 26 January 1978 at a temporary site (Nukkai Primary School in Jalingo), before the college relocated to its permanent site in Zing.
At inception, the college was academically affiliated with Ahmadu Bello University for the moderation of curricula and examinations, under whose affiliation the college graduated its fist five sets. In 1983, the affiliation was transferred to the University of Maiduguri. Following the establishment of the National Commission for Colleges of Education, the commission assumed responsibility for the accreditation and supervision of the college’s academic programmes.[4]
Academic programmes
The college offers Pre-NCE and NCE programmes across disciplines including arts and social science, languages, education, sciences, vocational and technical education, as well as early child education/primary education.[5][6] The academic programmes are evaluated and accredited by the National Commission for Colleges of Education[7]
Schools and departments
The college academic activities are organized into several schools, such as the School of Arts and Social Sciences, School of Languages, School of Sciences, School of Vocational and Technical Education, School of Education and School of Undergraduate.[8]
Convocation
In November 2024, the college held its first official convocation ceremony, graduating 19700 students from multiple academic sessions since 1994.[9][10][11]
Admission
Admission into the College of Education, Zing is conducted through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and direct entry routes. Applicants are required to meet the minimum entry requirements stipulated by the National Commission for Colleges of Education and the institution.[12]
