Committee (designer)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Committee is a British product design studio.

Committee is the name of London design team Harry Richardson and Clare Page. They are best known for the Kebab lamp, which won the Elle Deco/Observer award for best lighting design in 2004 and a bursary from the Design Museum in 2007.

Other designs include the Bamboo lamp, for Dutch design company Moooi founded by Marcel Wanders, the 'Flytip' wallpaper and designs for The Rug Company, Thomas Goode and knitted scarves for Topshop. Committee have exhibited at the Design Museum in London and with the British Council around the world.

The Kebab lamp was at the forefront of the trend for design that re-uses and recycles objects. It bridges the gap between fine art and product design, coming as much from the Dadaist beginnings of the found object as an attempt to find a practical solution to a problem.
