Communication Federal Credit Union (CFCU) is a federally chartered credit union headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. As of February 2020, CFCU has over $1 billion in assets, over 85,000 members and 23 branches located in Oklahoma and Kansas.[1][2]
History[edit]
Communication Federal Credit Union, originally Pioneer Bell Credit Union, was founded by employees of Southwestern Bell Telephone in downtown Oklahoma City. A federal charter for the Pioneer Bell Credit Union was granted in 1939.
Since its founding, the credit union expanded its field of membership to include local business partners, most notably gas and energy companies in Oklahoma.[3] The name was changed to Communication Federal Credit Union in 1982 to reflect this growing field of membership.
Organization[edit]
Communication Federal Credit Union is chartered by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) as a federally insured credit union.[4] It is led by a Board of Directors that is elected by the credit union’s members and serves without pay.
