The Computer Graphics Society (CGS) is an international, professional society whose purpose is to promote computer graphics by exchanging ideas to find innovative solutions. It is a non-profit association.

Present activities[edit]

The Computer Graphics Society is responsible of the global organization of two conferences:

  • The Computer Graphics International conference (CGI)  that was founded in 1987 by Prof. Tosiyasu L. Kunii in Tokyo, Japan. The official proceedings of the conference are published in the journal The Visual Computer, a Springer journal.
  • The Computer Animation and Social Agents (CASA) conference, formerly named Computer Animation, that was founded in 1988 by Prof. Nadia Magnenat Thalmann in Geneva. The official proceedings of the conference are published in the journal Computer Animation and Virtual Worlds, a Wiley journal.

Since 2013, the Computer Graphics Society (CGS) has discerned two different awards:

  • The CGI Best Paper Award (CGI 2013, CGI 2014, CGI 2015, CGI 2016, CGI 2017, CGI 2018, CGI 2019, CGI 2020)
  • The CGI Career Achievement Award (CGI 2013, CGI 2014, CGI 2015, CGI 2018)
