Concentric (company)

Concentric is a West Midlands engineering company, formerly Concentric plc a large conglomerate of smaller engineering companies. The new company Concentric AB is one of the world's leading pump manufacturers.


A previous company had been formed in 1921 in Birmingham.

It was formed as Concentric Manufacturing, being incorporated on 1 February 1946.[1] It had two main engineering plants at Sutton Coldfield and Gravelly Hill (A38).

In 1995 the company had a turnover of £142m.


In 1998 the company was taken off the London Stock Market, and taken private by Bridgepoint Capital for £87m.[2] Its moulded plastics division was sold to Key Plastics of the USA for £5.7m. Concentric had a workforce of about 1,500.

Concentric AB was formed in 2011, and listed on the NASDAQ OMX.[3]


It later had its headquarters in Sutton Coldfield (now called Royal Sutton Coldfield) on Coleshill Road. In the 1970s, this headquarters was on Birmingham Road. In 2008, the Conservative MP, John Redwood, was Chairman of Concentric; the Chief Executive was Ian Dugan.

Concentric AB, formed in 2011, has its headquarters at Alvechurch in Worcestershire, south-west of junction 2 of the M42.
