Congatec is an embedded systems vendor from Deggendorf (Bavaria, Germany). Primary products of the company are industrial-grade motherboards and computers-on-module.[1]
The company has subsidiaries in the United States, Taiwan, China, Japan, Australia, the United Kingdom, France and Czech Republic. In 2018 its sales amounted to 133 million US dollars.[1]
Company history
Congatec was established on 9 December 2004 by thirteen former employees of embedded manufacturer Jumptec[2] (which itself became part of Kontron in 2002).
After five years of operation, the company’s sales amounted to EUR 27 million, and the staff increased to 77.[3]
In 2014 the company reached 64 million EUR in sales and became a leader in computer-on-modules in the EMEA area.[4]
In 2018 Congatec acquired a virtualization vendor Real-Time Systems.[5]
Manufacturing and customers
Congatec is a fabless company; the actual production is done by foundries.
Some customers of Congatec include B&R, Amazon, Bosch Rexroth, General Electric, Google, Rohde & Schwarz, Samsung and Siemens.

IPO attempts
As early as 2015, Congatec was aiming for a listing on the American Nasdaq stock exchange, but the project was cancelled due to the weakening capital market.[7] The IPO announced in mid-September 2019 for the end of 2019 in the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange was also postponed to 2020 one month later.[8][9]
