John Conor Richardson Kennedy (born July 24, 1994)[1] is an American attorney and former political staffer.[2] He is a member of the Kennedy family, the son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the late Mary Richardson Kennedy.[1] He currently works at the law firm Wisner Baum.[3]

Early life and background

Kennedy was born on July 24, 1994, in New York City.[1] His father, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is an environmental attorney who was appointed as the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services in 2025.[4][5] His mother, Mary Richardson Kennedy, was an architect who died in 2012.[6][7]

Kennedy attended Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts.[8] He graduated cum laude from Harvard University in 2018 with a degree in History and Literature and Spanish Language.[1]In 2023, he earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Georgetown University Law Center.[1][3]

Career and activities

Legal career

Kennedy works as an attorney at Wisner Baum's Los Angeles office, where he focuses on complex litigation.[3] According to the firm's website, he works on the Zantac litigation team, representing clients with claims in California and Delaware state courts.[3] Prior to joining Wisner Baum, Kennedy worked as a paralegal for a plaintiffs' firm involved in prescription opiate litigation.[3]

Political work

Kennedy worked as a staff member for Pete Buttigieg's 2020 presidential campaign.[9] In 2022, Kennedy publicly expressed support for Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the Brazilian presidential election.[10][11]

Activism

In 2013, Kennedy was arrested during a protest against the Keystone XL pipeline at the White House.[12] He was among over 40 protesters, including his father, who were charged with failure to disperse and obey lawful orders after securing themselves to the White House gate.[13][14]

In 2016, Kennedy was arrested in Aspen, Colorado, following an altercation outside a nightclub.[15] According to media reports, he later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge.[16]

In 2022, multiple news sources reported that Kennedy joined the International Legion for the Defense of Ukraine, a unit of foreign volunteers supporting Ukraine following Russia's invasion.[17][18][19][20]

Personal life

Kennedy's mother, Mary Richardson Kennedy, died by suicide on May 16, 2012.[7]

In 2012, media outlets reported that Kennedy dated singer Taylor Swift.[21][22] The relationship received attention when they attended a Kennedy family wedding.[23] Swift later confirmed that her song "Starlight" was inspired by Kennedy's grandmother, Ethel Kennedy.[24]

In 2022, Kennedy began a relationship with Brazilian singer Giulia Be after meeting in Los Angeles, according to media reports.[25][26] In August 2024, several news sources reported their engagement.[27]
