Climate Activism[edit]

Local[edit]

As part of his school's Green Schools Committee, Slattery has led multiple actions in his local community of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. In Blackrock College, he worked as part of the project to eradicate single-use plastics on the school campus[8] before being elected as the first Chairperson of the committee to serve two terms. Under his leadership, the Green Schools Committee led beach cleans and Environmental Awareness Weeks (featuring taxes on cars entering the school's campus, training school leaders about important environmental issues, engaging local and national politicians in forums, etc.) and many more activities and initiatives. One of the initiatives he led resulted in Blackrock College being recognized internationally on Earth Day alongside schools like MIT, Duke University, Columbia University, and Johns Hopkins University for their participation in environmental campaigns[9].
