Content Partners
Content Partners is an American intellectual property (IP) rights company.
History[edit]
Content Partners was founded by Steven Kram and Steven Blume in 2006.[1] Both Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner were among the initial investors in the company.[2] Originally the company was established to acquire 50% to 100% of the royalty payment rights[3] from individuals with only small interests in films and television,[1] and found early success in acquiring the rights from television writers during the 2007–08 Writers Guild of America strike.[4] The company raised $50 million in its initial round of financing.[5]
Business[edit]
The company purchases IP from content creators after they have run much of their lifetimes in order to resell the rights to new platforms.[6] As of 2019 the company owned the rights to 400 films and about three thousand hours of television.[7] In 2013 the company acquired 50% of the global rights to the television series CSI.[8][9] In 2017 Content Partners acquired Revolution Studios[10] for $400 million.[11] At that time it had about $1 billion in assets under management.[12]
