Cooku with Comali (season 1) is a 2019-2020 Tamil competitive cooking show which is airing on Vijay TV[1] from 2019. Chef Dhamu and Chef Venkatesh Bhat are the judges.[1] The second season is currently hosted by Rakshan. While the first season was hosted by both Rakshan and Aranthangi Nisha.
Format[2][3][edit]
Initially during the show, the cooks select their comalis through a random selection process. The cooks are prominent celebrities selected by Star Vijay and they have the knowledge of cooking while the comalis are mostly comedians who don't have the knowledge of cooking and they from various other programmes of Star Vijay like Super Singer, Kalaka Povathu Yaaru, etc. Then they start with the advantage task where the winner gets an advantage during the main competition. In the main competition, there are twists given to the comalis by the Judges like cooking with one hand or just instructing the comalis to cook. The best dish in the main competition wins and the cook along with the comali gets the advantage of not participating in the following week. The dishes with the last and the second last place go through an elimination round. The loser in the elimination round gets eliminated but the comali remains in the show.

Season 1 of the show consisted of the following cooks: Vanitha Vijayakumar, Rekha, Ramya Pandiyan, Gnanasambandam, Mohan Vaidhya, Uma Riaz Khan, Balaji, Priyanka Robo Shankar[1]. The comalis for the show were Bijli Ramesh, Manimegalai, Tiger Thangadurai, Pappu, Sakthi, Pugazh, Shivangi, and Bala.[1] The finalists of the show were Uma Riyaz khan, Ramya Pandian, Vanitha Vijayakumar and Rekha[4]. Rekha qualified through the Wildcard Entry Process. Vanitha Vijayakumar emerged as the Title Winner of the first season of Cooku With Comali[4]. Uma Riyaz Khan was the runner up[4].

Season 2 of the show consists of the following cooks: Baba Bhaskar, Dharsha Gupta, Pavithra Lakshmi, Madurai Muthu, Shakeela, Deepa Shankar, Kani Thiru, and Ashwin Kumar. [5] The comalis for the show were Manimegalai, Sunita Gogoi, Sakthi Raj, Sarath, Parvathi Saran, Sivaangi, Pugazh and Bala.[5]
