coolHue is free and open-source gradient collection tool and library.[2] It was first released and published on Product Hunt on 18th June 2017 and featured as #1 Product of the day[3] It is a tool which can either generate gradients in hex color code format (outputs in css linear-gradient format) or download the gradient color palette in png image format.

    Origin and Release Story

The first beta version of coolHue appeared on 18th June 2017 on Product Hunt and the first stable release rolled out after 3 days, that is 21st June 2017.[4] coolHue's core developer Nitish Khagwal had continuous tweaks and bug fixes to uplift the quality and code standards of the tool, keeping an eye on the root functionality and usability. Once coolHue was released, it was featured on YCombinator [5] and Reddit[6] and it got a sudden buzz from the dev and designer community. It got more than 2K GitHub Stars on the first day of release.[7]

    Features

coolHue has a huge collection of ready-to-use pastel color gradient swatches which can either be copied directly in css format or downloaded as png color palettes image.[8]

coolHue also offers the collection as JavaScript Array which can be used with CommonJS pattern in ES6 with 'require' syntax or packages like Webpack or React JS.[9]

    Tools Recommendations

Awwwards mentioned coolHue as one of the useful tools for CSS gradients in their developers and designers magazine on 28th March 2018.[10]
