Draft:Cool Aid (festival)
Cool Aid is an annual festival that takes place on Riverbend Farm in Monkton, Maryland. The festival originated in 1985, and is produced by "Instant Classic Productions".
History[edit]
Since 1985, Instant Classic Productions has produced an annual Labor Day weekend music and arts festival. Instant Classic Productions rents out a huge plot of land each year, "Riverbend Farm", in Monkton, Maryland.
The festival is produced in collaboration with DC Rock band "Oxymorons", who generally play (if not headline) the festival each year.
Each year, hundreds of adults and children show up to camp out on the farmland for a few days.
Activities[1][edit]
Camping[edit]
One of the main attractions of Cool Aid is the individual camping aspect. You're expected to bring your own tent and camping supplies to the festival, and find a plot yourself to set up your space.
Water activities[edit]
In the middle of the farm is a large pond, where there's kayaks and canoes, a rope swing into the water, and a beach with chairs.[1]
There's also the opportunity to go tubing down the nearby river; you can rent tubes from the reception tent and go inner tubing on your own accord.[1]
Arts and other activities for children[edit]
There are certain tents dedicated to kids activities, for instance a tie-die and painting tent, as well as a magic show that occurs on one day of the festival.
Music[edit]
The main attraction of Cool Aid has to be the music scene; many artists and bands participate in the lineup each year to provide live music for the entire campsite. The music generally starts around dusk, and goes until late at night.[2]
Bonfire[edit]
Each night of the festival, everyone gathers around a giant bonfire situated on an open field near the entrance to the farm. It's common for attendees to bring their guitars/ukuleles or hand percussion to sing campfire songs or make new friends through music.[3]
