Cor Dillen (full name Cornelis Petrus Maria Dillen) (born 9 August 1920 – died 19 October 2009) was a wealthy Dutch businessman, notably known for having been the CEO of Philips in South America and the one responsible for bringing Color television to the continent.[citation needed]

Early Life

Cor was born in Strijp, he first held some high positions at Philips in Netherlands, among which also the position of CFO (1960–1968) of the company, later he was promoted to the CEO of their branch in South America (1981-1982)[1]

His brother was former PSV Eindhoven top goalscorer (record holder of most goals in a season 43) Coen Dillen.[2]

His grandfather was a very well known socialite in Eindhoven Pieter Johannes Dillen (born 1895)[3]

Retirement and Legacy

Cor retired in 1982, until his death he had a fortune of around 250 Million Dollar. After his death, the Dillen family became more well known, with some nephews opening a jewelry store named Van Dillen in London.[citation needed]

His legacy is spread with family members living in the Netherlands (his niece Anita Dillen, who followed in his footsteps by becoming an executive as well as secretary for ABN Amro), Chile, New Zealand (his nephew Gerry Dillen) and the United States of America (his nephew Hank Dillen, who is also a CEO for Philips in the USA).

Achievements

In 1978, he was awarded the title of Officer of the Order of Oranje-Nassau by the Dutch ambassador to Venezuela in recognition of his meaningful contributions to the growth and development of Philips in South America, and for his services to both Philips and the Netherlands.[citation needed]
