Coreborn: Nations of the Ultracore.[1] is an upcoming social survival sandbox game set in the world of Ultracore[2]. The game, officially announced during a live reveal event[3] on November 17th, 2022, combines three central pillars. A survival sandbox (the world of Tormentosia), a social hub (Coreheim, the location of the Ultracore), and adventures (diverse action experiences).

Setting and Plot[edit]

Coreborn: Nations of the Ultracore[4] is set in the world created for the pen-and-paper game Ultracore[5]. The game takes place in Tormentosia, a land shattered like broken glass, previously divided by its different races in a state of persistent conflict. Then came the imminent destruction of their world as Sorgoth Devourer of Worlds, invaded the realm[6]. Facing his calamitous frenzy, the six remaining kingdoms united their power, each providing essential resources to defend all living creatures with a new kind of technology – the Ultracore. This is where we begin, as players venture out to retake the lands lost to Sorgoth and his armies.

Gameplay[edit]

The game is a social survival sandbox, played from a third-person perspective. Players will be able to explore, survive and build in the world of Tormentosia with friends. Returning to the social hub of Coreheim, players will be able to trade and meet and interact with new people. Using a blueprint system, players will construct homes after gathering all the necessary resources. PVE combat will be a key game element, with various creatures roaming the land.

Development[edit]

Coreborn: Nations of the Ultracore[7] is being developed by Blankhans[8], a fully remote, decentralized boutique game studio. The company was founded by Markus Schneider, René Rieck, and writer Hauke Gerdes. Blankhans features a mix of industry veterans and new talent. Development began in late 2021 using Unreal Engine 5. Coreborn is currently planning to enter early access in 2023[9]
