Corellium is an American software company based in Delray Beach, Florida. It offers virtualization products for iOS mobile devices, including a product called Project Sandcastle that would allow the Android operating system to run on iOS devices.[3]

Apple Inc., the author of iOS, has sued Corellium for copyright infringement for their virtualization product.[4][5][6]

Project Sandcastle[edit]

Around 2007, the founders of Corellium worked on a project to port Linux to the iPhone. With project Sandcastle, these efforts continued in 2020 with more modern iPhone models. This was made possible with the Corellium virtualization product and a custom patched Linux kernel.[7] As of March 2020, the iPhone 7 is the best supported iPhone.[8] PostmarketOS has been ported to the iPhone after the efforts done by Project Sandcastle.[9]
