Countryhumans (Russian: Кантрихуман) is a Russian internet meme and fandom centered around countries and political entities depicted as humans. The characters are mainly used for animations, stories, and art. Countryhumans are mainly depicted with having the country's flag painted over their circular head, whilst wearing stereotypical clothing.[1] These characters are popular on social media platform VKontakte (VK for short), where artists have created stories and art out of Russian cities and republics.[2][3]

Themes

Similar to Countryballs, the meme is commonly used for historical satire and to represent modern politics. [4] The meme focuses most on "white" countries, while African countries aren't as represented.[1]

Characters

The United Kingdom represented as a human with a pink jacket

Criticism

The fandom has been considered one of the most controversial fandoms on the Internet for shipping countries, especially countries that oppose eachother, like Third Reich X Soviet Union, or Rusame (Russia X America). [1]
