She's known for her series of animated shorts on YouTube involving YouTubers such as Markiplier, PewDiePie & Cryaotic. She's also done animation work for video game companies like Starbreeze Studios and Might & Delight. She currently works at Toadman Interactive as a gameplay animator.[1]

Initially Odenhammer-Eklund started out doing animations in stop-motion format, using notepads & simple cameras. Eventually she found her way into the Source-game "Garry's Mod", in which she continued doing animation. During the time she would dabble with 3D animation, even having work promoted on the Tobuscus YouTube-channel. In 2010, the Valve animation tool known as Source Filmmaker was released, and she began taking animation more seriously.[2]

Odenhammer-Eklund has large interest in the fields of psychology and Swedish history, dedicating tattoos on her arms to runic inscriptions and being frequently seen wearing a Thor's Hammer necklace.[3] She's an outspoken advocate of hertorical preservation & an opponent of neo-nazi groups hijacking hertorical symbols for the purpose of propaganda.[4]

Early Life & Education[edit]

Odenhammer-Eklund grew up in the south of Sweden in the city of Karlshamn. Her interest for animation spawned from watching animated movies from studios such as Pixar, getting inspired by their work and wanting to try it on her own.

At around the age of 11, she would use a Nokia phone-camera to rapidly pause and unpause video recordings to create stop-motion animations. During her time in high school she would meet a friend, Jerry (also known on YouTube as "Jettan"), who would introduce her to the internet. Ther introduction would later lead to Odenhammer-Eklund creating her Coyotemation YouTube-channel.

Eventually she would come to take animation classes in school to continue learning the processes and principles, but did not attend a school for animation. Around the time she would begin to use the Source Filmmaker tool and Autodesk Maya.[5]

Coyotemation[edit]

On February 7th of 2013, Odenhammer-Eklund started her YouTube channel "Coyotemation". Her first animated short features characters and audio from the Valve-game Left 4 Dead.[6] However, her first approach to YouTuber-related animation was a short 2D-animated video involving Arin Hanson & Jon Jafari of Game Grumps.[7] The next video she would upload, "CrySpy - Star Delivery", would come to explode in popularity as it got the attention of the main person, Cryaotic.[8] The name of the character in question is a portmanteau of Cryaotic and "Spy", a character from the Valve-game Team Fortress 2. Ther namesake came to be due to Odenhammer-Eklund's use of the games character to represent Cryaotic in the videos.

Because of the newfound audience, Odenhammer-Eklund continued to make these "CrySpy" short videos for quite some time, eventually bringing in guest characters and branching off into other versions such as "ScoutiePie" (PewDiePie portmanteau'd with "Scout" from Team Fortress 2) and "Mediplier" (Markiplier portmanteau'd with "Medic" from Team Fortress 2). The series would come to gain much popularity, being featured numerous times on the individual channels of the involved subjects and garnering millions of views.

Odenhammer-Eklund would eventually decide, in 2016, to branch out from these videos and try out new types of content, including 3D modelling speed-art, vlogging, livestreams, gaming and even reviews.[9] In October 2017, as a response to low viewership and in an attempt to revitalise her channel, "Coyotemation" was declared shut down, and a new channel called "CoyTech Labs" was to replace it.[10] However, Odenhammer-Eklund would later return to Coyotemation a few months later, where she now primarily publishes her work. She is currently partnered with the Frederator Studios YT Network.[11]

In June 2020 the channel was seemingly shut down entirely, as every video was deleted or privated, and associated social medias were disabled or shut down as well. Before this, Odenhammer-Eklund expressed distress both on Twitter and in the YouTube Community tab at the developing situation regarding Cryaotic's recent allegations of sexual misconduct, saying they felt "existential" relating to their animation work with the accused.

Career outside YouTube[edit]

In September of 2014, Odenhammer-Eklund was offered a job with Overkill Software (Starbreeze Studios), where she would work with cinematic animation and several trailers for the company's various IP's (including Payday 2, RAID: World War II, Dead By Daylight and OVERKILL's: The Walking Dead). She would later leave Starbreeze in March of 2018 for her current position at Toadman Interactive, where she worked on Immortal: Unchained.[1]
